Critical infrastructure | Java | Delivery uplift

Improving Java delivery foundations in a critical-infrastructure product environment.

Ovarro work combined legacy-application Dockerisation, CI strategy support, standalone Java uplift, and product-team delivery within an environment serving critical-infrastructure needs.

Context

Software used to understand and control important assets

Ovarro's SCOPE product environment supports software for configuring, controlling, monitoring, trending, and visualising assets. The public delivery history places the work in a utility and critical-infrastructure context.

The case study covers two distinct public role entries: Java uplift work from 2019 to 2020 and product-team contribution during 2020.

Challenge

Improve delivery foundations while contributing to an active product

Legacy and standalone Java software needed uplift alongside changes to the build and delivery approach. The work had to remain grounded in a resilient enterprise product environment rather than becoming an isolated infrastructure exercise.

Contribution

Modernisation, CI strategy, and Java product delivery

  • Helped Dockerise a legacy application.
  • Supported the GitLab CI strategy.
  • Upgraded a standalone Java application for integration into the SCOPE platform.
  • Contributed within the product team responsible for resilient enterprise SCADA software.
  • Worked on software used to configure, control, monitor, trend, and visualise assets in real time.

Outcome

Stronger maintainability and more mature delivery foundations

The outcome is qualitative: improved development-pipeline maturity, a clearer route for Java application integration, and added value to resilient enterprise software operating in a sensitive environment.
